Building Green

Today the environment is top of mind for everyone. Building green is easier then you might think and doesn’t cost as much as people might imagine. By using green products and green building practices, you can save the environment while keeping some “green” in your wallet.
Green building practices start right in our manufacturing facility and our people. Using only green products, we do not waste any material.
All of our off-cuts are used for blocking, bracing, bridging and our software allows us to cut the most usable material out of the length of lumber. Our goal is less then 0.1% waste throughout the entire process.
IGS international uses green building materials such as:
- Finger joint studs - this product is a manufactured stud joined together to make a usable, strong component in our
wall framing. These short pieces of lumber were destined for the land fill and are engineered into usable lumber.
These studs are straight as a die (no warping), defect free (no knots) and they are precision cut to length.
- OSB - Oriented Strand Board is used as a standard for IGS. It is stronger then plywood, gives off less harmful emissions and is made from waste materials from the sawmills. It is also less expensive then plywood.
- Engineered lumber - LSL,LVL, and PSL are just a few examples of this green lumber used for beams and tall walls that are manufactured from weed trees that grow fast and do not harm the old growth forests
- Joists - this engineered product does not warp and twist like 2x10’s, and can span longer areas giving you more usable space in the home.
- Roofing material - long lasting shingles or steel roof are alternatives that save material going to the landfill every 10 years like your low end, economy products
Please have the environment in mind before you print anything from our website!
